ORANGUTAN CONSERVATION TOUR

Borneo Orangutan Holiday

  • Gain privileged insight into orangutan conservation
  • Tours led by experts from the Orangutan Foundation UK
  • Spend a full 9 days in the forest with the orangutans
  • Go behind the scenes at the Orangutan Care Centre
In exclusive co-operation with the Orangutan Foundation (UK), Discovery Initiatives offers a small group of select clients, the chance to go behind the scenes of orangutan conservation in the rich rainforests of Borneo. Not only will you have the chance to come face to face with the orangutans themselves over the course of  9 nights in the forest, but you will also go behind the scenes at the Orangutan Foundation’s Care Centre & Quarantine Facility, something not possible on conventional tours.

With a member of the Orangutan Foundation leading these trips, you will explore this fascinating environment and spend most days visiting Camp Leakey, the historic research site established by Dr Galdikas. From here you will be taken on guided walks through the rainforest, keeping a watchful eye in the trees for wild orangutans and will also spend time at one of the numerous feeding platforms frequented by ex-captive orangutans, allowing for some wonderful orangutan encounters. You will also spend time enjoying a journey along the Sekonyer River exploring the fascinating rainforest and communities nearby whose livelihood depends on the forest itself.

Joining this tour will give you the privilege of seeing these gentle creatures in the wild while helping in the fight against their extinction.

“The performance of the staff were excellent throughout. Ashley and Steve at Orangutan Foundation were excellent as was all the info. Best I've ever had. ”
