JULIAN MATTHEWS
Julian Matthews
Born and brought up in Zimbabwe, after university in the UK and Operation Raleigh, he set up an expeditionary organisation resulting in research expeditions in Mongolia, Western Nepal, Guyana and Ethiopia.
In 1997 he set up Discovery Initiatives with the basic aim of using responsible nature tourism to fund conservation. As a pioneer in his field his job takes today him across the globe, visiting wildernesses areas across the seven continents, designing and developing new tours and safaris, developing partnerships with conservation agencies and wildlife experts the world over, and running a Campaign called Travel Operators for Tigers in India.
Julian has been interviewed and recorded both for BBC radio and TV, and lectures on travel and conservation both in the UK and abroad and is a Trustee of Global Tiger Patrol.
