The Galapagos Islands, off the coast Ecuador in South America, offer you and your family an unforgettable wildlife cruise into a veritable Eden, a living and real natural history lesson of exactly what the world was like prior to the advent of man.

It was from his finding on these islands that Charles Darwin’s famous theory of evolution was crafted, and today the same birds and animals he saw still have no fear of man. Even if you or your children are not great lovers of nature, you will be by the end of your wildlife cruise, perhaps engendering a life-long interest in ecology and conservation.

We recommend one of our 8-day ‘family friendly’ small boat cruise itineraries, geared towards families who like to travel with other families, and designed to provide a superb learning based holiday for parents and children. Under the supervision of a superb boat crew, guides and naturalists, there is a fun programme of structured activities ranging from astronomy to ecology, navigation, kayaking, snorkelling and knot tying, creating a fascinating connection with the enchanting world of the Galapagos and small boat cruising.

Today Blue-footed boobies, flightless cormorants, land and marine iguanas and giant tortoises roam freely as they did thousands of years ago. There are 13 islands in total and dozens of smaller islets and rocks – all the result of volcanic activity and with exotic plant life, unique wildlife species and an extraordinary landscape fringed with blue sea, gorgeous untouched beaches and bays and reefs perfect for easy snorkelling. Simply put, there is nothing else like them in the world.

Galapagos Conservation Trust Rainforest Concern

Our representatives, ground agents and accommodation and cruise providers in Ecuador are chosen for their commitments to Responsible Tourism and more specifically their commitment to wildlife conservation, where this is possible.

Travelling with us to Ecuador will contribute to this ongoing support, and we include a year’s membership of the Galapagos Conservation Turst and we support Rainforest Concern charity through your travels with us. Both run a number of key projects in each country.

You will travel with expert guides and enjoy the best naturalists in the wilderness regions you visit with us. Our selection of the very best cruise boats are chosen as much for the quality of their naturalists on board as for their comfort zone!

All our ground agents, wildlife experts and regional representatives are chosen to ensure that we do not compromise on this expertise, professionalism and experience.

Our aim is always to give you privileged insight into the natural world.

“The trip was very good, we all enjoyed it greatly. Especially worth mentioning other than the natural attractions of the place was that the guide Josie was especially good with the children (patient, helpful, interesting) and quite remarkably well-informed for such a young person herself.”

The Patwardhan Family, August 2006
