  • Few people can claim to have crossed the Antarctic Circle.

  • Explore seldom visited and pristine wilderness regions in a small expeditionary vessel and not a large cruise ship.

  • Thrill at the sight of abundant wildlife: penguin rookeries, seals basking in the sun, or even some of the great whales spotted at close range.

  • Enjoy travelling in safe, convenient ‘go anywhere’ Zodiac landing craft that make it possible for you to land at remote beaches in otherwise inaccessible areas.

  • Learn more about the Antarctic with an outstanding team of naturalists leading your expedition.

Few experience the high of crossing the Antarctic Circle, but to do so with majestic whales and fun loving dolphins is a truely memorable experience.

Very few people in the world can claim to have crossed the Antarctic Circle, reaching an extreme latitude at the very bottom of the world. Only the most adventurous travellers include this Circle on their life list of goals. Share this momentous achievement with a few select adventurers on board the Professor Molchanov.

You can travel in January and February taking advantage of the long days at the height of the Austral summer, to explore vast colonies of penguins, to observe some of the great whales, to watch hundreds of seals resting lazily on ice floes, and to simply marvel at the extraordinary variety of shapes, sizes and sheer range of colours of thousands of floating icebergs. The vistas are magnificent, with towering glaciers and dramatic cliffs that drop almost vertically into the sea.

The wildlife is prolific too, the oceans of the Antarctic being home to countless marine mammals including breaching humpbacks, fin, sei, minke and killer whales. Dolphin species include Hourglass, Peale’s and Commersons’s, all of which you will have a chance to view with a bit of luck. On land there are leopard seals, weddell, crabeater, southern elephant and Antarctic fur seals, colonies of penguins including gentoo, chin strap and adelie penguins. The skies are the home of wandering, royal and black browed albatross, giant petrels and terns to name a few. These and many more are seen on voyages at this time.

We only advocate using the best boats. They are small boats by Antarctic cruise standards, taking a maximum of only 52 passengers and very personal in their approach. The highly professional crew, who pioneered Antarctic cruising over ten years ago, have real expertise in these parts of the world, and operate under strict Environmental and Safety Standards.

Each passenger with us on our Polar Cruises receives a year’s ‘Friends membership’ of the Scott Polar Research Institute, Britain’s foremost Polar Research and Preservation organisation based in Cambridge.

Our Feedback

This trip has not been offered before but here are some of the comments from our past clients over the last seasons in Antarctica.

The cruise trip was superb. Alex quickly understood exactly what we wanted and the options available in the Antarctic, having been there herself. Kirsten, Delphine, Louis and Phil and the boat crew were excellent and professional and their respect for the pristine continent was always to the fore. Thank you hugely.

P.Cranston 2007

Thank you to Abigail for setting up this trip as we had a wonderful time. We have been travelling for over 30 years and can say that this voyage was the most memorable. They delivered every day and ensured individual challenges are met and enjoyed with amazing food!

Mrs J Crawford 2006

Excellent. I dealt with Alex who was extremely helpful and efficient. It was particularly good to get first hand information from someone who had been to Antarctica.
