With this in mind, by incorporating the very best highlights of the south-eastern region, the aim of this particular trip is to introduce the first time visitor to Peru’s incredible diversity, both wildlife and cultural. Divided into two very distinct halves, Amazon rainforest and Andes, this unique journey combines the very best jungle wildlife opportunities with stunning mountain scenery and ancient cultures.

The largest tropical rainforest biosphere reserve on earth, almost half the size of Switzerland and one of the world’s most species-rich protected areas, we’ve chosen the lesser visited Manu Biosphere Reserve for the rainforest part of your trip. Renowned for its excellent wildlife opportunities as well as for birding, you will explore Manu in the company of highly experienced local naturalist guides, visiting macaw and tapir mineral licks, ox-bow lakes and canopy towers. An important part of this trip is the contribution made to local macaw conservation efforts in the Manu.

In complete contrast to the jungle, the second half of this trip journeys through The Andes, taking in the stunning mountain scenery and impressive ruins of the former Inca Empire. With time to explore the treasures of Cuzco before moving up the Sacred Valley with its local culture, colourful markets and archaeological sites, your trip culminates with the enigmatic and unmissable site of Machu Picchu.

Percy Avendano

Percy Avendano was born in the city of Cusco and studied at the School Sciences of Cusco and continued his studies at Khipu Institute. He began in tourism in 1998 working at the operation department of Tambopata Jungle Lodge, assisting groups his passion for wildlife led him into the Tambopata National Reserve, and qualify as a Naturalist Guide in the amazing areas of Manu and Tambopata. During the training period he increased his interest and knowledge in birds that surround these areas.
