Journey to the Rainbow country

For a stunning safari, South Africa is a land renowned for incredible natural beauty and the diversity of its landscape is matched by few other countries in the world.

From the tropical coastline of KwaZulu Natal, the snow-capped Drakensburg mountains to the sweeping desolation of the Kalahari desert, A South African safari offers some of the most varied and extreme environments imaginable.

Add to this the historically rich and vibrant cities, a fascinating cultural identity, superb transport links and a wonderful choice of accommodation.

On a South Africa wildlife safari you will find this rich eco-system supports a huge amount of wildlife and, despite a heavy human hand and a turbulent history, the country is at the forefront of many pioneering wildlife and conservation programmes.

With its good ‘hassle free’ infrastructure it makes a splendid introduction to Southern Africa.

Best times to travel

There is no prime season for tours of South Africa as it is a year round destination, with regional emphasis changing according to the season.

South Africa’s coldest weather occurs between June and September(their winter). Although Cape Town and the south coast experiences periodic cold fronts, the main inland plateau (the Highveld) and north western have dry winters.

Safaris in the Kruger are best between April and October. This is also a good time of year for hiking in the Drakensburg.

Cape Town and the Garden Route, is usually at its best between November to May.

Whale spotting is best from July to November on the south coast.

Visas and health

Visas are not required for British Nationals, and most other nationals. Please make sure you have a full passport that has at least six months to run from the return date of travel and two clear pages of your passport. Malaria is endemic in most parts of South Africa, though not all and not in the Cape region. Expert advice is therefore essential. We recommend that you consult a medical practitioner.

Family safaris and journeys

South Africa is a perfect destination for a family holiday with wildlife, beach life, and a thriving and fun city life. A huge number of activities are possible and many lodges and resorts are very good at catering for them.
