Bali Nature And Wildlife Conservation Society
Bali Nature and Wildlife Conservation Society is a grass roots conservation NGO, established by the people of Bali village in the Sunderbans with the objective of safeguarding the unique ecosystems and diverse wildlife of the region.
Since its conception the NGO has been playing a pioneering role in mitigating the man-tiger conflict, reducing pressure on the park and its ecosystems and augmenting alternative and sustainable livelihood for the local communities. The organization also assists the park rangers in combating illegal hunting and felling and has introduced a nature club movement in the local villages and schools to raise awareness of the importance of conservation in this World Heritage Site.
The BNWCS runs various social and conservation projects across the Sunderbans and has also partnered reputed wildlife NGOs such as Wildlife Protection Society of India, WWF-Sunderbans Programme, Sunderbans Tiger Reserve and Development Board and the Association for Conservation and Tourism (ACT). The organization is the implementing partner of the Sunderbans Jungle Camp.
