The
original site of George Adamson’s first camp, Elsa’s Kopje is a very stylishly
crafted wilderness retreat in Meru and consists of eight luxurious stone
cottages each careful situated within the rocky outcrop for maximum privacy and
each individually designed to incorporate the huge granite boulders and trees
into your open plan accommodation. Gauze netting rather than windows,
four-poster beds and sumptuous yet natural bathrooms, all with astonishing view
of the plains below, make this an experience never to be forgotten. The lounge,
dining area and infinity pool, offer breathtaking views over the plains and
wetlands.
Wildlife
Prides of lion, large herds of buffalo, elephants with large bulls,
cheetah, leopard, lesser and greater kudu, duiker, dik dik, hippo, and
crocodile, and desert species like Beisa Oryx and Gerenuk. Excellent for bird watching
Activities
Game drives in open vehicles, nature walks, fishing, night game drives
and rafting on the Tana River. Bush
breakfasts, picnics or sun downer, or a bush dinner under the stars. Visits to
the Tharaka tribal village.

Built with the least possible disruption, with
eco-friendly techniques and with greatest protection of its natural
environment. It works with local communities to foster better living conditions
for the Tharaka communities.
