CHADA KATAVI
Chada Katavi, Katavi National Park, Tanzania
Chada Katavi is situated in the core of Katavi National Park, in western Tanzania, reputed to be one of the wildest places on earth and from its elevated vantage point on a peninsula that rises out of the miombo woodland, the camp is perfectly positioned for panoramic views over the Chada plain. There is something about the camp which makes every other lodge in Tanzania seem second best as this is very much a bush camp with style, from the glass and silverware in the mess tent to the pioneering feel of the camp itself – a must for any serious safari goer.
Wildlife
Vast herds of buffalo roaming the plains; also elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, and some of the largest concentration of crocodiles and hippos in Africa.
Activities
Game drives in open 4WD vehicles, fly camping under the stars, outstanding birding, daily walks.
Eco-credentials
The owners of the lodge are supporters of MIMAMPI - Forest Environment of the Pimbwe - a grass-root conservation movement that aims to keep the land buffering the Park under local village control. The trust supports community-based Forest Reserves, Village Game Scouts, as well as honey-projects, schools and local women’s’ development groups.
